Hi,
I have a big bubble on the inside of my new SatMap. Right in the middle of the screen.
How should I get rid of it?
TIA
Andrew. |

Remove the protective cover, dry Satmap screen and the protective cover with a dry, lint free, cloth.
Job done.
There is a video on YouTube showing how to get the cover off.

I was having similar problems with te Active10 until I increased the air-gap by adding some insulating tape shims between the cover and the display. |

I will shortly be taking receipt of a screen protector from Zagg. As I have read this could lead to a moisture bubble I was wondering how many pieces of insulating shim you put between the cover and display?

If you are using the original screen cover you may not need the shims. The original cover is supplied with thin pieces of foam around the upper perimeter whereas the replacement ones don't for some reason ( you would imagine they all come off the same production line ).
If you fit the Invisible Shield then put tape on top of the foam you may not get the cover to fit.It can be a bit tight with just the foam and the Shield.
Be very careful with the cover as they are dreadfully easy to break one way or another.I have broken one taking it off and on another I broke the very small clip which engages the cover on the side of the unit, unless of course I am particularly ham fisted which wouldn't come as a surprise.

I used a single layer depth of electrician's insulating taper in 3mm wide strip with a mitre to form a continuous seal and spacer. This cleared the Zagg contact marks and bubble without the clips getting too tight.
Warming the cover first with hands or hair dryer reduces the fitting stress by softening the plastic. Using a credit card corner or plastic lens cleaning swab holder as a lever instead of finger nails gives a better control to pop the top cover off without damage.
Bosun has highlighted the risk of the seal becoming dislodged in the top centre where there is no support. Pushing the lever in at 15-20mm from the centre is over a locating pin and this stops the seal from being dislodged. |

Thanks for that tip Westlothian.
Another way I have found of releasing the screen is to put your thumbnail in the gap at the side of the unit just above the side latches and run it around to the top which releases the top catch.
Terry,
If you do depress the rubber seal at the top where it is unsupported then release the two screws holding the unit together a turn or two and the seal should pop back into place.Don't forget to retighten the screws !!
