|
|
Hello all,
The roads near where I work have had their speed limit changed to 20 mph.
I've use the map corrections to change the sections of road (setting them to 20 mph) but now when I drive along them the tomtom display shows 15/19
Do you have to set the speed to 1mph above the limit to get it to show correctly? |

This is due to a rounding error as the mapshare changes appear to be saved in km/h then converted. Some end up correct by chance while others are 1mph out.
Apparently, the Dutch TomTom company don't see it as a big problem as "it only affects the UK". When they get more American reports, they may do something. _________________ Gerry

Why doesn't somebody tell them it's quite simple - just divide by five, multiply by nine and add 32. What's complicated about that? _________________ Dennis

That would be great if we needed to convert centigrade into fahrenheit! _________________ Tim |

I actually prefer it to be slightly out! At least I can see that the speed limit is as a result of a correction. _________________ Steveee

Hasn't this been corrected in v8.3? I certainly haven't seen any 29mph roads for a while, and the one obscure road that I updated via Mapshare is definitely showing 30mph. |

I've just corrected my street to 30mph and it shows 31mph. That's GO920, App 8.300, map 815.
On the other hand, my GO720 on which I performed the same test, now shows 29mph - App 8.010, Map 810. _________________ Dennis

At least, when you've got them both side by side on your windscreen, you know the truth is somewhere in the middle

Reminds me of my old boss who had his own private plane.
He never felt he could trust his altimeter, so eventually fitted another.
Of course they then gave different results... so he had to fit a third one in the hope that two of them might agree....
You can see where this is going can't you? |

The 720 and 920 seem to be in agreement, the HTC Advantage with TT Navigator 6 is sitting there wondering if there are any satellites around and the C702 with Wayfinder Navigator is still in my early learning curve. Of course! They all shout encouragement - "Cross the roundabout, second exit", "Go left on the roundabout, second exit", "At the end of the road, take the second left", "Turn around when possible". That should get me out of our street, shouldn't it? The 720 occasionally speaks in tongues - grandchildren's tongues "Wake up Dennis, Speed Camera/Mobile Camera/Camera Removal check ahead!" _________________ Dennis
