I've got a Holox BT541, which I understand is the same as a Wondex BT100Y. Opening it up there is a sticker that reads "BT 100 Y plus" and the chip is Skytraq Venus 521c.

My problem is that the unit has a lot of issues finding satellites. It appears to connect over bluetooth alright but then just sits on 'Waiting for a valid GPS signal...' for ever. Just to confuse the situation occasionally it finds the position and works fine. I switch it off and immediately back on and then it doesn't work. I've tried leaving it outside for 30 mins to re-get the satellite data but so far to no avail. Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to fix it?

I also can't seem to get it to connect to my PC over Bluetooth either. It will connect as an outgoing connection from the pc, but I can't get any data back from it. Very frustrating!

Any help seriously appreciated!

i believe 'HOLOX' is a dodgy far-eastern company playing on the trade name 'HOLUX' - which actually make decent GPS receivers... maybe that's the main issue?!

I thought it was the otherway round ...............Holux being the dodgy company . I own a HOLOX 44 channel BT reciever and never had an ounce of trouble with it .Use it with my Ubiquio's and a Nokia 770 . Very reliable it is . Maybe you've just got a bad-un ?

Yeah it was very reliable for quite some time and then it just became dodgy. Oh well, a new one is on order now - a qstarz bt-q8181x this time!

Wrong, very wrong!

Holux are the respected GPS manufacturer with a long history in GPS, Holox are trading on the name with a bunch of cheap re-badged no name receivers.
