Pardon my ignorance but would someone tell me about my sim card as it doesn't seem to show up under explorer and I wanted to store a map on it.

I have only the sim Card that came with the unit (assuming the black card isn't just a 'blank' is it? Rolling Eyes )

When I open up the unit under explorer there are the usual folders but I expected to see another drive for the Sim card. There is a SIM CARD folder but surely that's not the card. Help please.

You don't say what device you have but a SIM Card is the card used in phones. The SIMCARD folder exists because of the x40's which have a SIM card installed for the data connectivity.

If you are referring to a memory card, then the one supplied with devices such as the x20 and x30's is simply a plastic blanking piece, it is not an actual memory card.

A 920 isn't fitted with a Sim card and the supplied "memory card" is a simple plastic blank to prevent dirt getting into the slot, all your maps and application data is currently stored on the built in 4GB Flash memory within the device.

Try ejecting the blank bit of plastic and fit a true SD or SDHC type card, these can be any size upto and including 32GB, put your map, music and anything else you might want on the card. As long as you put the files in correctly named folders the device will pick them up and use them - Mike

You mean the SD card, presumably, not the sim card? Sim cards are for phones.
Doug

EDIT: Sorry, twice too late!

Thanks gents, yes I meant SD card, but wrote SIM. It's been a long day.

It's a 920 per my signature below and now I understand that the supplied plastic blank, is simply that, (why I didn't realise before seeing as it has no contacts defeats me.)

I'll buy an SD card of reasonable capacity and then, of course, it will show up - I mainly wanted it for archiving the North America map.

Thanks Mike, Darren and Doug. And Darren - that folder makes sense now too - as I am still running the 8.204.
