Whilst out walking, I tend to switch off my iPaq (with memory-map data) from time to time to conserve power, whereas I can leave my Navman 4410 on due to its 30hr battery. The intention is to keep a good fix on my position, so that I can check it whenever I want by switching on my PDA, without draining the PDA's battery unnecessarily.
However, when I switch the PDA off (thus severing the bluetooth link), the GPS locks up and freezes my PDA, so that I have to perform a soft or even hard reset.
However, I would have thought the GPS could carry on calculating position, then transmit this data to the PDA when it could re-establish the link (ie when I switch the PDA back on) and without playing up in between times.
A mate has the same problem.
Any suggestions / thoughts / patches available to overcome this? |

Its a 2210 running PktPC 2003. My mate has an older iPaq - will check with him his model No.
I should say as an addendum to my original post that what happens most of the time is that you switch off the PDA and this causes the Navman GPS to switch off too thus losing the satellite signal which sometimes causes other problems and results in the need for a reset.
So what I'm really looking for is a way to stop the Navman GPS switching off / doing whatever it is doing to cause problems with my PDA. |

Have you installed the ROM update?
I had the same problem which needed soft resets until I installed this update which fixed the BT 'hang' or lock-up.
Heres the update
You cannot stop the 4410 swithching off. It will do this after several minutes if there is no active BT connection to conserve battery power.
The only way as far as I know is to keep an active connection. |
