|
|
Hi I have a Nuvi 860 and for some reason the bluetooth is having a strop and has dropped the connection.
When I go into Tools, Bluetooth and try to enable bluetooth it lets me press the enabled option but then just goes back to disabled on the main screen.
I have tried a soft reset to no avail, ran webupdater software is currentlly upto date.
Can any one see where I am going wrong as I can't?
Many thanks

What 'phone are you trying to pair it with?
Has it worked consistently before? If so - what's changed recently (including firmware on 'phone). _________________ Phil |

I've had a similar thing happen - albeit not with an 860. What I did was delete the phone from the sat nav bluetooth config, and pair it again.
I've perhaps had to do this maybe twice whilst I've had it. |

Hi Philpugh and Lester. I have had another try just now to get this to work.
I have had the phone working consistently, the only thing that has changed was that I ran the latest software update for the Nuvi Version 320 dated the 23rd September.
I am running a Sony Erriccson K770I , the last software update was on the 22nd of September.
In bluetooth settings this is what I have tried to do.
When I press the disabled option it comes up bluetooth disabling. Then I go back in and press enable the message comes back up enabling bluetooth, all the fields are highlighted then it's just shuts down again.
It is very very strange
Thanks |

I'm not sure the bluetooth options are the same on your 860 as on my C550. But disabling then re-enabling bluetooth didn't fix it for me. I had to delete my phone from my C550, then pair it again. |

Hello Lester
Thanks for that, I am completely lost as to what has happened, I am not a novice but have sent an email to Garmin to ask them for help.
The strange thing is that all the other bells and whistles works except the bluetooth, if I find out what the answer is I will post it.
Cheers

If you can get a copy of the previous firmware (someone around here should be able to help) you can see if this caused the problem. _________________ Phil |

Many thanks for helping me, I have tried to update the software but am unable to get the options to do so on the nuvi.
I received a reply from Garmin and they said that the K770I was not a recognised phone, as I have had it up and running using bluetooth since I brought it. I sent a reply back to them stating this but they havent replied. At over £460.00 I am a little tad annoyed to say in the least. I am not sure as to which way to go now.
Thanks

Thanks for that Paul
I suppose with hindsight that this is a case of "caveat emptor", the thing that is annoying is that it is the bluetooth facilty on the sat nav that is disabled. If I could try another phone that has bluetooth option then it might work.
I can't seem to get it to stay on all the options highlighted. Eventually I manage to get them all on then they just shut down again. Ir really cheeses me off

Hi just as a matter of interest can I ask as to what phone you are trying to sinc to the nuve ?
I managed to get mine working again though it wasn't easy. This was the reply that I got the 1st time from Garmin.
I" dont think this is a fault with the unit as i have tried the supported
phones for this unit and your K770 I is not on there which makes me
think it is not compatable and we can only go by what phone are on the
chart"
I replied that I had the phone working in the 1st place, then I received another reply from Garmin with instructions to replace the software GCD file, it was very helpful but it still didn't solve the problem.
Lastly what did it was that I updated the bluetooth software from Garmin and lo and behold I was back in business. I can send the instructions that I got from Garmin if you like but this is as your discretion as to whether you use them or not.

Hi I finally got it to work.. (I used both nokia e65 and e90).. but had to update bluetooth software for it to work. I dont understand why it stopped working in the first place, but after installing the bluetooth update, it worked.
Follow this link for web updater, download on your PC, plug the unit in and
run web updater; it will search for all the unit software updates available
to load on the unit.
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp
update the GPS Bluetooth software.
this is the reponse I got from garmin.
Thanks
