I'm looking for a the best sat-nav I can get for the smallest amount of money that will give me a "walking route" option, so I won't be led round 1 way rounds and such when I could just walk across the road to get to my destination! Any suggestions? I've seen sat-navs for 50-60 quid but can't figure out if they have walking options or not. Thanks.

For under £46 you could have an original TomTom One, the maps might be a little dated but to be honest if all you want it for is walking around on roads then it should be fine and it does have the "Pedestrian" mode in the route planning, see This page for details, if you are thinking of using a GPS device for walking off road in the hills then the TomTom device is a waste of time - Mike

Since TomTom's lack screen lock, they're not the best choice for walking IMO. I would check out one of the inexpensive Garmin nuvis. Without a screen lock function, it will be tough to ever put that TomTom in your pocket without inadvertant screen taps or feature calls..
