|
|
TomTom have just announced the release of HOME 2.5, the latest in the line-up with a raft of new features and improvements.
Details have just dropped into our inbox, as with 2.4, this is a cross platform release with 2.4 versions of both PC and Mac versions available. Right now the update is available only if you use the 'check for updates' option within HOME or direct from TomTom's website. It will be made available as an automatic update over the next few days.
2.5 brings many new features including support for interrupted map downloads (Hooray!), this has plagued many users with slow connections, an enhanced Taskbar icon (Windows only) which allows you to check HD Traffic and Account information as well as other minor improvements
As always, HOME can be download from www.tomtom.com/home
Downloads - Support for resume after interruption
New Windows Taskbar options
Support for New LIVE Services _________________ Darren Griffin |

One thing I've not seen before is the ability to sign up for Beta releases of Home. |

I thought they were all 'Beta' releases
This is another new feature as well as support for additional languages including Cyrillic & Latin American Spanish, easier navigation when locating computer voices and recorded voices and POIs in shared sets now show how many individual POIs they contain. _________________ Darren Griffin |

For the last few days every time I logged on home there were different issues with it e.g. asking for country etc etc. This AM It started downloading the 2.5 automatically. Some nice improvements!
One more thing if you aren't aware this 2.5 will reset your
folder /preference back to default. You will need to edit if you aren’t using the default folders. |

I have updated to Home 2.5.0.29 by selecting Check for Home update in 2.4.which appeared to update without any hassle. However.........
Point 1.
I don't have the new taskbar items mentioned by Darren above. The screen still appears the same as 2.4 !
Point 2.
Good news ! Ever since having my 940 I have never had Fuel Prices. TT support have been investigating this for a fortnight now and I've not received anything from them saying it had been fixed. Last I heard was a week ago when they said my C&E Europe map was missing some files.
BUT....when I updated my 940 using 2.5 I was offered (and accepted) the Fuel Prices update and they appear to be working ! HURRAH !
Point 3.
Although Fuel Prices now appears to be working they still don't show in MyServices which I believe they should.
Can anybody confirm this for me?

These only appear if you right-click on the HOME Taskbar Icon, did you?

That's correct they should. To get mine working required some tweak at their end AND a factory reset at mine. _________________ Darren Griffin |

After downloading the latest version, I encountered a fault almost immediately.
"ERROR: Internal/InvalidValue/#FuelTypeID: Invalid value: We're sorry but HOME can't complete that task. Please try again later, or contact customer support. For problems with items that are stored on your device, we advise you to remove and re-install the item." |

I too am getting that a lot. Looks like a page not found error on some. |

My download of the update tripped-up on my firewall so I fixed that and all went well.

Mine was offered automatically when I launched the old Home v2.4, I didn't need to select "Update".
Re: the right-click options... "My Account" opens a browser window with the My account TomTom page.
"Show Traffic" opens a new browser window, but it's blank!
Home/Downloads now has two sub-folders - "complete" and "temp", presumably to enable the download resume feature.

None of the Live stuff appears to be working. Looks like we're being asked to beta test the new version again. |

Does anybody have a copy of HOME v2.4.0.104 I can download.
The new 2.5 keeps crashing, not sure why. Would like to try the 2.4 again to see what happens.
PM me if you don't want to put the download address on the post.
Thanks |

I have a TomTomHOME2.4.0.104.exe and various other folders which run with it such as helpcontent, licence, Resources, Translations, xul and xulrunner.
Please advise if and how you want me to supply.
Thanks |

Has anyone found a way to switch the silly adverts/sales banners off at the bottom of the screen. Running Home 2.5 on a small Netbook with a 10" screen means that the display is very camped. |
