To TMC or not to TMC

Dear all.

I'm looking to upgrade my reliable but now long in the tooth i3.
I like the over speed warnings so will be sticking with Garmin.
The question is should I pay out for TMC?
I noticed from lots of posts that it can be/seems unreliable, so is it worth the extra or should I just stick to a cheaper non tmc unit?

Depends on how important traffic advisories are for you. Amazon has the soon to be deleted Nuvi 250 for a steal at the moment at about £89 - great value, but no traffic. I recently got a 265T (£149) which has traffic. The traffic service is OK but I wouldn't rely on it - local radio often has better, more up-to-date traffic announcements. But the 265T has a lot of other good points as well. I also upgraded from an i3 by the way, going I3, Nuvi 250 and now Nuvi 265T - I haven't looked back since - in general, the Nuvis are great.
