My old GO 910 was limited to 100 POI's before it crashed. Does anyone know if the new x40's have the same limit? _________________ Device: GO 600, Live connected via iPhone 5.

It's 169 on the Go x20 and x30 ranges.
I haven't heard any different for the x40's. |

I was asked by the keeper of all knowledge (my wife), how many POI's she could have active on her 720.
Would someone care to remind me if the 169 POI's:
1. are active POI's i.e. those that are ticked to show up on your Screen, and you can have any number of additional POi's on your TomTom x20/x30/x40, but cannot see them, or
2. is that a total of 169 of both active and inactive POI's?
3. And does that 169 include the TomTom POI's.
Thanks in advance _________________ Mick

The TT POI set are included but if you don't want to use them you can remove the poi.dat file from the map directory in the unit but make sure you keep it somewhere safe for re-installation. This frees up a lot more space...
Also, I think the TT speed camera set for each country count as a POI set in terms of the total number on the unit but I could be corrected on this... _________________ Device: GO 600, Live connected via iPhone 5.

The limit of 169 is the number of OV2 Files that exist in a Map Folder. Above that and a random selection will not be seen by the software.
poi.dat and it's contents do not have a bearing on the 169 limit.
If you have a significant number of POIs 'ticked' (Enabled), this will slow down the screen refresh rate. Sometimes described as 'jerkiness'. You can still use them even if they are not Enabled.
If you wish to see them on screen it is better to use Warn When Near as this doesn't have the same effect. If you don't want a warning for each one, use the Type in your own warning menu and use an underscore ("_"). It's on the ~&? keyboard. _________________ Richard

Hi Oldboy,
Has that changed at some point? My old GO 910 constantly crashed if the total number of POI categories whether from within poi.dat or from individual .ov2 files exceeded 100 lines.
Good new all round with 169 "extra" ones to play with now though.
PS: Keep up the good work on the downloadable POI's! _________________ Device: GO 600, Live connected via iPhone 5.

Hi Oldboy,
Has that changed at some point? | It has always been there with the V7 software. I must admit to not having tried it with 7.900
I'll have a play later and report back.

Right here goes.
This is a 910, 7.900 software and the 815.2023 W&C Europe Map.
I put 308 Custom POIs into the Map Folder.
Using the Delete POI Category Menu I was able to Page Down and counted 250 categories.
I double checked by going into the Warn When Near menu and I still had 250, plus those that are in poi.dat _________________ Richard

What is the maximum POI limit on the 910 now? Is it 250? |
