Is it possible to transfer the favorites list, etc., top a new map when you update your map?
I'm about to update my UK and ROI map, but am looking for an easy way to keep my personal data...
Any ideas? |

Yes this is possible, simply copy the "MapSettings.cfg" file from the old map to the new one, there have been some problems recently with people upgrading the software to 7,900 on the x10 and earlier devices where it refuses to open the old MapSettings file - My advice would be to use a Custom POI file instead of favourites as this is easier to move about - Mike |

You can read up on how to create a POI file see Here or you can do this on your PC by converting the "MapSettings.cfg" file using POIEdit software which can be downloaded from Here
Or simply use the functionality within the device, to build the POI file - Mike |

Hey Mike, thanks for the help!
But... I've ended up upgrading my map to the Western and central Europe version, and the 'MapSettings.cfg' file doesn't seem to be compatable between different map types... so I guess the POI route is the way to go.
But, how can you plan routes and set itinery plans using POIs?
Thanks for all the help! |

Navigate To/ POI select the category you have created then the POI location from the presented list.
For Itinerary Planning when you select the "Add button" choose Points of Interest, and any of the options on the next screen then select your POI category, followed by the location.
As a tip to make your "Favourites" POI file appear at the top of the list name the POI Category AAA_Favs this way you get to select it first rather than having to scroll through all the installed categories - Mike |
