I've been a TT user for a while but had a 2 year break. An opportunity to purchase a cheap XL Europe 22 (I assume this is somewhere between a ONE or a GO?) came up so I thought I'd give it a whirl
The map is at v720.1802 and it's running the 8.010 app, I've connected it up to the pc and it's suggesting that I get the latest map update for 19€ or something but in order to do that I have to get the 1 year updates service for another 40€. Now I remember when I ran TT on my iPAQ and GO300 in the distant past I think the map was updated about once in three years so my question is.. how often have the maps been updated in the last year?
I also have a problem in that when I connected to my existing profile using Home, which had my old GO300 in it, it asked me if I wanted to switch to the new unit so I said yes and it came up with no errors. However now, when I reconnect the XL it keeps coming up saying I need to link the unit to my account again. If I take that option it now comes back with an error telling me I can't and that you can only change your device code once every 6 months. Do I really need to create another profile/use another email account? |

Maps are updated roughly quarterly now. But new units come with a 30-day latest map guarantee allowing one free update, have you used that?

This is to prevent abuse of PLUS services. if you have the ability it is much easier to register it against another email address unless you have a PLUS service subscription you wish to transfer? Alternatively give tomtom a call and they can normally reset the account if you no longer have/use the GO 300. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren
The XL was 2ndhand and the map update has been used up, don't suppose you know if the updates are for the whole of Europe or mainly just the UK though as I'm in Spain and not fussed about updating if it's mainly concentrated on UK updates?
Seems like it's much easier to re-register with another email account, I'd sent a support request to TT but didn't hold out much hope (based on previous attempts for assistance!) |
