Hi,
I plugged in my 730 tonight to see if Mapshare was working again. I noticed I was offered a new map. I thought this a little strange as last week I purchased the "maps for a year" update thingy and that installed a new map.
Anyway, I removed my current map with TomTomGo, downloaded and installed the offered map (West of Europe seems to be a lot smaller than before, better compression?). Turning on my unit I get a "this map has not been activated" message.
I have a unit code but not a product code as there wasn't one supplied with my purchase last week and, to be honest, I haven't needed to activate a map since I had my original TomtomGo. So, I cannot use the ttcode website.
I do however have a backup, performed uin Windows. Should I just scrub everything and use my backup, or is this something Tomtom customer services will be able to solve?
Thanks |

Hi MrPharmacist
Ah! You have been fiddling about with your device contents (quite a few of us suffer from that complaint). However, like myself you are in the comfortable position of having a windows backup and personally I would restore that backup now.
Of course, someone may come up with another solution. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Product codes and the ttcode.com website aren't used any more.
All of the authorisation should be done automatically by Home as you download the map.
As to what has gone on and why Home offered you yet another map that it then wouldn't use is a mystery to me though. Thank God for backups!
But you might as well try asking TT what's going on, just for a giggle. |

Customer service should be able to solve it for you. What did you purchase last week? You aren't trying to install maps on two devices using one TomTom HOME account, are you?
HOME usually activates new maps you install. Keep us posted on what the issue is here, I'm sure we can help. |
