just toying with the idea of creating an app for facebook that will display the pgpsw news feed.
before i destroy my mind getting my head around the facebook developers api i thought i'd see if there was any demand for it - would you make use of such an app? do you even HAVE a facebook account?!

Although I am a facebook user, I don't use it often enough to benefit from the news feed. Besides I'm often reading all the news on the front page within hours of it being posted.
Might be of use to someone though. _________________ Dom

I'm not a Facebook user, but it gave me an idea...
...what about somebody who drives a fair bit with a video camera in the car (operated by passenger, of course) filming the PGPSW database in action and posting it on YouTube for publicity?
I've just looked on YouTube ad there don't appear to be any results for PGPSW _________________ Andy

I've got a suction mounted video camera, that could do that. I made it for track days and it is really stable. If Gps_fan's idea strikes a cord I'd be more than happy to provide. I also know a good road in Sandhurst with eight cameras on it. _________________ Dom

Probably too good quality - I have no idea what Facebook is, but if it's anything like that youtube thing, it's crumby.

the idea is more for people visiting your profile would see the news and then visit the site
and yes, the youtube video sounds like a nice idea. between the team we'll be able to do something - we can also get some video's of the directional databases too.

That road sounds rather too familiar
If you cross the eight camera road, there are also redlight cameras - so in a short space, you can cover 30 mph Gatso and Redlight _________________ Andy

Yes, at present that is the group that dominates the area, but the demographic is expanding. The fastest growing being 25 years and older.
Apparently it is the 6th most heavily trafficked site with 70 million unique visitors per month.
privateer and bopeep have a PocketGPSWorld.com Facebook in place already. (Edited to correct: Apologies, privateer and bopeep were not in fact the ones that set it up.) If you are already a Facebook user, log in here: PocketGPSWorld.com Facebook Login _________________ Robert Brady

No speed camera related videos yet, but the results for PocketGPSWorld.com can be found here: PocketGPSWorld.com YouTube Videos.
We've posted 11 videos there over the period of about a year now and they have had 40,000 views. To put that into perspective, we often get that many visits to the site in just one day.
That said, it's another good outlet where newbies can find us. Every 'little' helps as they say
Make sure you press the big subscribe button when you're there so you're informed when the next video is released! _________________ Robert Brady |

Aha, I tried searching for PGPSW which seems to just link to PGA videos.
A YouTube search for PocketGPS does bring up the videos mentioned above _________________ Andy

I'd say go for it Dom! MikeB can upload it to YouTube in his role of Executive Producer. I think that's what he says he is... or maybe it's Best Boy or Gofer. I can't be sure. _________________ Robert Brady |

Ok! I'll rig something up and I'll get back to you when it's done. I assume you'll do a bit of editing of your own to give it the pgpsw touch afterwards. _________________ Dom
