|
|
Hi
I bought a new TomTom Go 530 I have had it a few weeks now, but recently it’s been rebooting itself when I switch it on and one day would not switch on at all until I did a reset.
Is this a common problem with this device?
Should I return it?
Thanks |

Ok did reset as advised on the Tom Tom website, this worked for a few minutes. How ever when you first switch it on now and navigate through various menus the screen just freezes then the unit reboots? And the route I planned has gone.
Looks like I will have to return this one.
Thanks any feed back appreciated

I have exactly the same problem with a new 530. If it's going to do the freeze-reboot thing it'll normally do it within a couple of minutes of being switched on. If it can survive those first minutes it'll keep going for hours.
I've installed a few new voices and a lot of POIs - but I still have masses of free space.
I'm waiting for the next upgrade to see if that fixes it. |

ClearFlash tool is totally different...
Download it from the TomTom site HERE
Don't worry, despite it's name it DOESN'T delete anything vital from the internal flash memory of your unit! |

I'll let you know if clearflash worked with my 930. I thought the battery was just discharging quicker when I would turn my 930 on and get "low battery" shutdown. I run on battery most of the time as I use a nuvi 760 on the side. Until the other night when it turned itself on while on the dining room table, I hadn't put two and two together. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

Should we all have a gnsdata file? The only file in my gns folder is TmcEApi.SO. _________________ Anita

Try cleaning the display, especially under the frame in the corners.
It could also be the frame touching the screen.
I had a similar issue, and resolved it by running a store loyalty card all around the edges between the display and the frame. |
