|

Hi Everyone
I'm a new subscriber and have already successfully installed the speed camera database on to my Tomtom 530. The help page was excellent.
Aside from the quick help guide provided on the POI page, is there any specific advice for the TomTom? I know I should copy the POI onto the SD card, but am unsure of what to do next (that is, do I need to point the device to the card to read the POIs?)
Thanks in advance ...

As long as you place the POI Files - OV2 and BMP - in the Map Folder you are using, then the Application on the Device will pick them up OK. _________________ Richard

It's all exactly the same as the speed cameras, except you probably won't want to set up warnings for general POIs (well... maybe for McDonalds!) |

OK, I think I'm being dumb.
Firstly - alot of the POIs are password protected (such as the petrol stations, and, sigh, Mcdonalds) Have I downloaded the wrong files?
Secondly - If I put the POIs in the map file, isn't that on the device rather than the SD card? I'm happy to do this and keep the SD free, it just seemed the general advice was to use the card.
Thanks again (hopefully I'll put something back at some point!!!)

It depends what you mean by Password Protected. Can you explain what was giving you this information, and what you were doing at the time?
In older Devices everything was on an SD Card. There was no Internal Memory, as on the newer Devices.
As long as the POI Files are in the Map Folder there will be no problem, whether the Map is on the Card or Internal Memory. _________________ Richard

The 'extraction wizard' asked for a password when I was extracting the files to the tomtom, so this morning I extracted them to my desktop - no passwords needed. Odd. Probably user error. Anyway, all working well now.
Thanks Richard for your time / advice |
