Newbie with a traffic question GO530 traffic

Sorry to be a complete plonker on my first posting but I have just entered the world of SatNav and brought a GO530 traffic
This came with a aerial thing you plug in and fix to the screen, yep done that. drive around with satnav on telling me where to go BUT no traffic reports ??
Ok so what should I expect......

How have you attached the traffic receiver to your windscreen?

With mine, I've found it works best vertically up the centre of the windscreen, but it should be at least 4cm from the edge of the windscreen because the metal bodywork of the car will interfere.

Probably what I was doing wrong then ... err aerial was lying at bottom of the screen
will resite it when I go home and try again
