Hi i have contacted mitsubishi about purchasing a Dvd map for asia or more specifically Thailand and they have been next to no help at all.
I don't know to much about the system fitted to my vehcile apart from it's DVD based and uses Navteq maps is it possible to buy Navteq maps for another manufacturer and use them in my system ? Or is the software used manufacturer specific ?
Also who make's the unit VDO , BECKER ? would it be possible to buy maps from them ?
Thanks in advance

Hi finchyboy,
to the forum!

Best thing to do is read the manual and hopefully the true manufacturer will admit to who they are even though they've presumably badged it as a
Mitsubishi unit.
If that's not the case then you may need to get physical and have a look at the unit itself or the remote control. Do either show a plate that has the serial number, if so does that plate show the manufacturer?
Have a chat with your local Mitsubishi dealer or better still the engineers that actually look after the vehicles as somebody somewhere will know who the manufacturer of your DVD based SatNav is.
Have a chat with Navteq.

Once you know who the manufacturer is, you should be able to buy the relevant DVD from Navteq themselves.

You might be able to buy the maps from the actual manufacturer as well, but as long as you get the ones that work, that are the latest maps, that are the best price then I guess it shouldn't matter where you get them from.
A word of warning - don't be tempted to buy from eBay as they might be cheaper but you have no guarantee that the DVD will work with your system.
