Hi Gurus
I had a question.
Recently I lost my MIO C710 and would be looking for another Mio.
There are lots of choices with new models and ranges but there was one thing on the c710 that I just will like to have back and that was the 'red table tennis' bat like icon which used toat times pop up[ provided TMC is on] and used to tell where are the police control checks taking place(real time).Anyone who's used a C710, knows what I am talking about. I understand this got later removed from the newer versions(miomap), but may have been reintroduced again. Since I have not been following the forum for quiet some time now, would anyone please advise a mio PND(apart from the obvious c710, ...basically from the new ranges) which has the same "dynamic police control icon pop up on screen" feature.
or was it just something very unique for the C710 only ?
or finally, any hint on any other product range, that shows up real time police checks{ which basically means mobile cameras, hidden tripods behind the guard rails etc . , the c710 does that [provided it gets the info from the radio stations of course] }, and if so ,then maybe I could go for something else than a Mio.

I haven't seen anything about real time speed checks being included with TMC transmissions.
The only icon for mobile cameras that I've seen on Mio has a picture of a car in it _________________ Andy

Thanks in advance.
This feature is available in Miomap and iGo only using alternative skins - the out of the box version of Miomap and iGo don't provide this feature.
Basically when encountering a jam or other relevant event on your current route a small window/box warning will briefly pop up on the map screen warning you of the event.
Afaik only Miomap and iGo offer this feature and only then when using alternative skins. Search GPSPassion for further information.
I don't think that iGo 2008 offers this facility so, if you really want it, you wil need to buy a legacy device.
I should add that Police check warnings are not available in every country. They are not provided in the UK but they are, for example, available in The Netherlands.
