Hi all, still new to the forum so please be gentle !! i've recently bought a tomtom 720 and just today used its update map guarantee, as soon as i had downloaded the updated western europe map the wee note on the top right hand corner of the tom tom home page keeps on telling me that my map is 50 weeks out of date and that there is thousands of mapshare updates waiting to be installed...... so i go to update but it shows nothing to be updated!!! whats going on or is it nothing to worry about??

Welcome to the wonderful world of wonky TomTom servers and Home software
There is nothing wrong with what you are doing at your end. This 'warning' from TomTom is false. You may try to update an hour from now, or a day, and see no warning and everything run smoothly.
As an aside, as a new owner, have you backed up your unit's contents using Explorer, NOT Home, and made sure hiddenn folders/files are showing as well as extensions for known file types? If not, do so ... now.
Better safe than sorry. _________________ David |
