|
|
I have just bought a Nuvi 265W and while I am happy to use the Garmin speed camera files initially, I would like to use the PGPSW database and Ash's camera manager.
How easy is this to do (any step by step guides)?
Thanks |

A good guide is here
Basically you log into PGPSW website with Internet Explorer (even if you use another browser such as Firefox) and tick the remember me option. You can then close IE.
You run Camera Manager (CM) and it downloads the database and then generates a load of GPX files according to your choices in the program. These will be put into the folder where POILoader is set to upload your files from. Once the files are generated you upload them with POILoader to your unit and that's it. One final word of warning, the GPX files are quite big and it can take a while for POILoader to load them to your unit. It may appear it has hung or frozen - just leave it.
Any questions please ask. |

Are the Garmin speed camera files on the PND overwritten? |

No. You can delete them from Garmin\Poi directory on the unit or just disable the Garmin Camera alerts under Tools, Settings, Proximity Alerts, Chnage... Untick Garmin Safety Cameras. Make sure Custom POIs is ticked. |

I just got my new Nuvi 265W today and very impressed with it after my i3.
How can I tell how up-to-date the Garmin speed cameras are?
(On another note - how many custom POI's can a 265W store?) |

When you download the cameras from Garmin it'll tell you the date of the latest database. No guarantee of how "up to date" that really is though..

It appears to be as many as you can get onto the unit, however if you go over 256 categories some icons may not display and some categories may also fail to display. |
