Is anybody having strange things happening that have v8 maps on non *30 TT? Just a thought in my head that it could be the problem.

I am having increasing strange things happening on my 920 with v8 maps installed??....ie being sent down 5 miles down the motorway in the wrong direction only to be told then to come off and return onto the motorway to the junction I joined it.....being sent the wrong way, anticlockwise around a roundabout.....map displays that show an "A" road that is not there and trying to direct me down it.....traveling down the motorway in the correct direction home and then being to turn around when possible....traveling down a road that is correct that I have just been told to go down and then 2 seconds later being told to turn around when possible.
I have used TT since there first days on a PDA, more years than I care to remember and never had problems like this.

I have done a paper clip reset but still strange things happened, always had 7 + satellites at the time of problems.

If you give some details of the specific examples, someone is bound to be able to have a look at them on their own device and make some comparisons.

Probably down to the simple matter that v8 maps aren't officially available or meant to be installed on x20 series yet.

They'll probably appear towards the end of the month or so.

This is what i am thinking is possibly the problem....but would have expected other users of v8 maps on *20 having similar problems, but seems that this could be an isolated incident

It's a bit early to say yet as this thread has only been active for a matter of minutes at the time I posted this reply.

But I think that's the reason TT didn't initially issue the v8 maps for the x20 series, because of possible routing problems & other issues.

I haven't got a clue how the technical side of the mapping works or how its coding may differ from one series of TT's to another or if they use the same data set.

I would say there must be some differences in it as afaik the Advanced Lane Guidance & the improved IQ routing doesn't work on the x20's & earlier models yet.

Funnily enough ALG and improved IQ seems to be working perfect on mine, at the moment !!

I have run ver8 maps on my 720T for a while now, i travel all over the country and it has worked perfectly, no glitches no routing problems zilch.
The only thing i have had is home updates a little slow although i don't feel this has anything to do with the map version.
Lane guidance and iq routes work fine.

No problems here, infact I would go as far to say that my TT520 has never worked better since I put V8 software and maps on it. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

It may not be your X30 map !!!a route which i have taken many times before wanted to send me off at the wrong exit on a roundabout there had been no road changes
Despite on previous occasions it had sent me off at the correct one.
The only thing I have updated was the software to Version 8

I was going to say that John.
Perhaps the software app is corrupt on his device.
Try reinstalling the app and see how it goes. Must be worth a try.

Very possible, will do it later and see how it then goes. I have had v8 on for 7 weeks and this only started about 2 weeks ago, until then it seemed fine, possibly better than v7

v8.010 Navcore with v805 maps seems to be working well for me.

The other thing you might want to check is whether an incorrect road closure has been added via MapShare or something like that.

I've stopped using MapShare, except the corrections which I make because there have been too many instances of wrong information being submitted and having "verified by TomTom" selected doesn't seem to improve anything.

One of these incorrect MapShare corrections was the closure of a motorway junction which has NEVER been closed in all the time I've lived here (not even overnight), and certainly not since the advent of MapShare.

I'd like to second GPS_fan here. I'd be very tempted to blame Mapshare above all other guesses. Is it possible for you to re-run that route, but with all mapshare corrections excluded?

I'm not sure how you'd re-install v8 app since they've withdrawn it anyway.
