I have bought a Tom Tom One 3rd Edition and I have noticed that the latst maps are now available to buy, it also states on the website that you can buy a 2Gig Sd Card for more storage space but the One 3rd Edition does not seem to have an SD Card. The unit seems to be sealed. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the SD card and how. Any help gratefully received.
Regards. Colin. |

Hi
If you cannot see an SD card slot on the out side of device , then it only uses internal memory and does not use SD cards.

Two points
First, make sure you take a complete backup before you go any further - use Windows Explorer, not TomTom Home, to do this, copying everything to a folder on your PC.
Second, do NOT be tempted to buy the Western Europe map which you probably will be offered when you go to buy the new map - it will not fit onto your device. You can only get the regional map - GB and Eire. _________________ Dennis

What map have you currently got on the unit as there were/are two different types of One Third edition, the regional has 512MB storage and the European has 1GB of storage, you cannot suplement the built in memory and you can only install a map that is of the correct size to fit within the restricted memory - Mike |

Hi Folks thanks for all the response to my message. The map I have at the moment is only the GB and Eire. So it is 512Meg
I will do as you suggest and do a complete backup before I proceed.

I'm afraid it's bad news... you aren't going to be able to proceed how you'd like to....
You are stuck with the limited amount of memory you have, so you won't be able to fit the Europe map in at all.
All you can do is buy other "regional" maps of individual countries.
This is a major disadvantage of these new machines with no external storage. |
