Zumo 550 or Tom Tom Rider v2 - Avoid minor roads

Just been on holiday to cornwall .. I have an old tom tom nav 5 running on a pda and my fathers nuvi 260 .. Both units kept sending me down roads that I would rate as Z roads when approx half a mile away there would be a good B road that would actually be quicker.

I am just about to buy a device that can be used both on my bike and the car and wondered if Garmin or Tom Tom have any way of setting preferences to avoid these single track lanes .. I guess both devices use them as they are probably speed rated at 60 MPH.

Or does anyone now a trick to avoide these roads when driving around in areas like cornwall ..

Nope, it's a common problem in places like Devon and Cornwall.

But as you've found, other brands are just as bad.
