**garmin nuvi 250 or tomtom one europe??**

i use at present a 2 year old tomtom one europe. mostly in uk but about 5 times a year in spain (costa blanca area). my tomtom maps are quite out of date now but instead of upgrading them for £50, i'd rather buy a new unit with a new guarantee etc.
seen the garmin nuvi 250 with european mapping on amazon for £99. is this unit any good (not used garmin before) and how do i know prior to purchase whether the maps are up to date. do they get updated often, and are there any garmin guarantees to supply most recent updates.
would really appreciate some advice.

garmin will update the maps on a new unit if it comes with outdated maps. you need to contact them for this, it's a freephone number and they're more than helpful!

i'd suggest trying out a nuvi in a shop if you can. lots f tomtom users who move to garmin find them 'dumbed down' - however, i have been a fervent supporter of garmin since my first sat nav an prefer the interface over tomtom's...
