I have an what I assume is an original TomTom One (App: 7.162 and UK Maps: 675.1409). I notice now that theres v8 software and v7/8 maps. I'm assuming that these aren't compatible with my One? Does this mean that I have out-dated maps for my device with no chance of upgrading in the future (making the device in effect progressivley more useless)? Many thanks for any advice.

You can use the 720 Maps on your Device.

Going on TomToms previous practice, the V8 Software and V8xx Maps will be made available to older Devices in due course.

At the present time, even the Classic GO can run the 720 Maps and the only thing it lacks is TTS and BT phone connection.

as said, you can update to v7 maps now. v8 navcore (the operating system) is available for some models, and is expected to become available for the rest on a 'top down' basis. When that happens isn't known. elswhere on this site you can read that v8 Navcore was released a short while ago but then withdrawn, so maybe its not to far away.

when v8 Navcore is available for your model, you can then use v8 maps, although its debated whether there is that much difference between v7 and v8 maps.
