Hello all.
Ihave a problem with my 770 turning off. If I flick the on/off button to the left it wont go off. I end up with the unit re-booting, which according to the instructions it does re-boot if you hold the button to the left and hold it there for 8 secs.
This is annoying. In the instruction booklet it says to slide on/off button to the left to turn off, well the blinking thing does sometimes.
Has anyone got any ideas please?
Thanking you in advance,
Regards hadyn42 |

Hello Paul
The unit started doing this about 1 month ago after putting the one before the last Sw update.
What are your thoughts please?
Kind regards

It could be a faulty switch. Is your unit up to date with the latest firmware (version 3.00)? |

Hello Paul
Thanks for reply. My Garmin does have version 3.00 SW on it.
I maybe a bit quick on the turn off. I flick the on/off switch to the left and nothing happens. Should I wait a few seconds and then it will switch off. I have switched to off position and it springs back to the middle again and may switch off about 4 secs, but this is not always the case. It's that blinking reboot screen if I hold it the left too long.
As I have mentioned before in the instruction book it say slide button to the left to turn off etc.
As you say it maybe a faulty button. Thank you again...

I tend not to "flick" it but slide it carefully and hold for about half a second. Flicking it suggests a rapid movement and might not register. Try being slower.... |

To be honest though it really does sound like a faulty switch.....
Contact Garmin through the MyGarmin website and see what they say. |

Hello Paul
Thanks again for your help.
The unit seems to have cured it's self now. Being switching it on and off loads of times. Seems to be okay.
Must of cleared the fault. I have only used the unit about twice since to version 3 update.
Thanks again
Best regards
