|

After 'helping' a mate install a new v8 map on his TT one, the TomTom POI icons have gone a rather boring black and white. Custom POIs are unaffected. This is on the drop down list to select them, as well as on the map when browsing
Reinstalling a known good POI.dat file hasn't worked. Is this info kept in another file, like custom POIs have a *.bmp and *.ov2?
It still functions well, but the POIs dont stand out on the map |

Yeah, one of the 'improvements' of Navcore 8. (another reason some users such as Andy_P and I are still on N7 ) |

At least it makes it easier to pick out the PGPSW ones from the TomTom ones! _________________ Anita

you mean it's MEANT to be like that?
well words fail me. just have to break the news to my mate - the good news that his unit isn't broken in any way.................. and the bad news that it's a 'design feature'.............. or have I got that the wrong way round?
oh, well, if he wants to go back, its easy enough, as I insisted he made a FULL backup using a file manager rather than HOME like he thought..... sigh. Cant help thinking things could be easier. and yes, Anita, the custom ones do stand out more. Perhaps I'll just tell him to get custom POIs and not use the default ones.............. |

So THAT'S why I'm still on v7! I was beginning to wonder...
Maybe TomTom have finally realised they are SO short of memory space on their latest models that they hope missing out a couple of 'bits' to describe the icon colour will make all the difference! |

The ones from here are more accurate, but some of the categories have nothing in this area, so I use both. I try the PGPSW ones first then, if it doesn't include what I want, I look at the TT ones.
The only ones I usually have showing on the map are the speed cameras. _________________ Anita

Hey......I don't want to lose the functional compass in V7. God knows how many firmware updates to N8 will be necessary before that is brought back. |
