If I put the maps from the go onto my SD card will the unit still read the maps from the card & will this slow the unit down ?.
I want to do this so I can just take the card out & update my music & speed cams without the need to dock the Go.
Thanks in advance. |

Yes you can put the map and music on the SD card, put the music tracks into a folder called "mp3" (without the "") although as long as you have a backup of the device I am not too sure what advantage this offers you? - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
I already have my mp3's on the card & they work fine, I want to do this just so I can quickly take out the SD card to add music or the speed cam database using the camera manager software then I don't need to use the USB cable to connect.
I was mainly worried about the speed at which the unit reads the map from the card & fear that it might slow the units map refresh rate, do you think it will ?. |

No.
If it worries you, just COPY the map to the card, then you can switch between the two to see if you notice any difference (I don't think you will).
The only thing you'll need to do is edit the name of one of them in the mapname.pna file so you can tell which is which!
Open it in notepad and edit the first line eg to:
ID=Western_Europe_SDCARD.pna
That description is what you see on screen when you go to the "switch maps" page. |
