Hi ALL
Just replaced the trusty 700 with a 930T . Can I still use POI type speed Cam alerts with it, Tom Tom are suggesting that it does not use this method any more????? Seems to me it uses POI's still for everything else?? Also can I change the dumb noises with spoken alerts? |

If you use the speed camera database from this site you can have the spoken alerts in just the same way as any previous version of TomTom device, the way it handles POI files is exactly the same as your older 700 unit did - Mike |

Strange that TT should try to deny this! Scared of the competition? |

Thanks Mike--Tom Tom state that after version 6.5.1 (or something ) the speed cameras are done differently and I must subscribe to THEIR database and have a bluetooth link to my phone to update mobiles. I see this as a cynical attempt to make me use their system as opposed to yours which I have always used and am happy with. I'll give it a try and report back |

Perhaps you could explain to the forum users what the phone call to TomTom Support was in detail, or did you consider talking to Muppets might have offered a better solution?
It is a long time since their Support has had much in way of credibility (if indeed it ever had it in the first place), I have used them on a couple of occasions and found it very handy, but it really does depend upon who answers the phone - Ask questions on this forum for a faster, accurate and more friendly answer to most questions.
Trust me you would have got a more accurate answer discussing this with Kermitt than the rubbish you were told, they have changed their method of speed camera POI's, but the day they drop custom POI support will be their death as far as a navigation software/ hardware supplier, as yet they have not removed custom POI support - Mike |
