Nuvi 710 Map update problem

I’m having trouble updating the maps on my 710, it basically comes preinstalled with uk maps, I have the city navigator nt v9 DVD for Europe which I want to update to my sd card. Firstly are these the most upto date maps avliable currently for europe?

Secondly i used map source which transferred the maps to my card no problem but every time I load the unit I get the cant unlock maps message, this is only the case for the Europe maps as the uk maps load fine.

Any help is extremely appreciated

Welcome

The latest European mapping is V2008 (it would have been V10 but Garmin changed the naming convention this year.)

You do have an unlock code for the unit (not the DVD) don't you? If not you have to buy one from Garmin. It will (of course) automatically unlock the UK portion of the map as you have already paid for that.

Thanks for the reply, i do have a code for the unit aswell as for the dvd but they are both different, i use the dvd code in map source which unlocks the maps to which i can transfer to my sd. But when i load the nuvi i get the cant unlock maps option??

Also i have noticed when i go into the settings/maps, it only displays uk & ireland,

Did you get the DVD from Garmin or a 3rd party? If you bought it from Garmin with an unlock code then you ought to be able to add the code to the unit, perhaps by phoning them. If from 3rd party (eg ebay) though, you may have been sold one which was already locked to another unit.
