I want a smaller mount than the hugh one it came with but do not know what this mount would come under what connects to this clip.

Can anyone please tell me what its proper name is?

I bet the letters "HR" are on that device somewhere in the black plastic, the hole pattern is the same as the Herbert Rchter mount system which has a huge selection available. Have a look Here for a start, although there are lots of other places that sell them, you can also port this holder directly to the excellent Brodit system via an addaptor if you desire - Mike
