|
|
TomTom have issued the first update for TomTom Navigator 3. It can be fetched
when you click >> HERE << in this area
and fixes a pretty big number of issues
- This update offers improved itinerary navigation. When approaching a stopover, TomTom Navigator will sound an audible notification. This can be switched off in advanced settings.
- This update contains several improvements in the route planning algorithm.
- On some devices turning off and on the device could lead the application to freeze. This update will provide more robust operation.
- In some circumstances reading TomTom Navigator 2 settings could result in a crash. This issue is resolved with this update.
- The map with Major Roads of Europe could not be opened with TomTom Navigator Scandinavia and TomTom Navigator Iberia. This update solves this issue.
- In specific circumstances, when planning from city-centers or railway-stations, the application would freeze or crash. This update fixes this issue.
- Some saved itinerary locations were shown disabled after loading, trying to enable the location resulted in the message “This location is not on the map”. This update fixes this issue.
- Improved itinerary view: itinerary items had the same name when the street name was the same but the city name was different;
- When driving on a road that is closed to traffic, TomTom Navigator, after planning a route, would immediately replan the route. This update solves this issue.
- When planning the route in Itinerary View, the original route did not take into account stopovers and drive-bys. This update solves this issue.
- In specific circumstances it could happen that using the schematic navigation view caused the application to freeze. This update fixes this issue _________________ Lutz

Whilst it hasn't been officially released there appear to be a number of forum members who have successfully purchased copies from retailers.
I can only assume that they are selling ahead of the agreed availability date. Having said that it is good to see that bugs are being fixed, probably following field tests with the Beta teams. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I bet they rushed its release for CeBit and are now reaping the whirlwind. A lot of these bugs look like they would have been very quickly found by users and therefore are indicative or poor, or rushed, testing.

Maybe they're taking a leaf out of Microsoft's book and using their customers as free beta testers . Maybe from the time and money saved they can invest in some customer service. _________________ Nick |

I can't find the area where customers who who purchased Navigator 2 after mid-January '04 can download an upgrade to Navigator 3 for free. |

It won't be downloadable. If you read here you will see that TomTom plan to begin the upgrade programme Mid-April at which point you can register on the website for your upgrade. _________________ Darren Griffin |
