|
|
Hello all I am compiling a list of users who are or have experienced the windscreen holders falling from their windscreen. This has happened several times with the original and replacements sent to me.
TT claim that no one in the world has ever complained.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks |

If it's any help, my x20 mount (similar design) was fine for about nine months (fell off very occasionally) but a few weeks ago it started cracking around the ball and socket, and for no apparent reason at around the same time it started falling off about every half hour!
I can't see any connection unless I'm subconsciously not pushing so hard when I put it on the windscreen in case I break it! It could also be the warmer weather?
Have you tried whacking it on as hard as you like and then giving an extra push straight down the stalk, that seemed to help with mine. Also have a look from outside at the sucker pattern to see if that gives any clues.
For info, TT offered to replace the mount without a murmur when I told them about the cracking. |

Hello no it's not the warmer weather as it is doing it all the time. Here in Edinburgh not famed for it's heatwaves! Also TT have replaced twice. Have tried all things short of super glue. It' their cheap and nasty mounts. I am getting pretty fed up I can tell you. Went into Maplins yesterday to have a look at other satnavs. Even the cheap and cheerful Binatone has a proper mount with the lever "which what this needs" |

If you like the satnav, why not just get a third-party mount?
There are plenty of alternatives from the likes of Brodit (DSL Developments in UK), Arkon, Buybits etc.
Just a couple of links to get you started:
Arkon
Brodit
Buybits (several brands)
Don't think Brodit do a sucker mount but I can vouch for their Proclips. Arkon certainly do one with a suction lever. |

I ordered a dash mount which came today only problem the power clip built into it is not in alignment with socket on the unit and doesn't locate at all so it's gone back. it's supposed to be for the One V3. "paghh" |

Maybe you caused the confusion by calling it a"v3"?
It isn't... its a "Third Edition" which is actually a v6 or v7.
If you asked for one for a v3 you may well have got the one for the v3, also known as the "New/Second Edition".
Don't blame them, blame TomTom and their stupid naming/numbering system! |

From which site? The Brodit / DSL link I gave above only refers to them as mounts for the "3rd Edition". |

The only powered mount on that page appears to be the one by CARCOMM device which is for the One V3 not the 3rd Edition - Mike |

TomTom just sent me a new mount for my TT1v2 (the 3rd) - it's worse that before, staying on for a max of about 5 mins!! That's with cleaning the windscreen, moistening or not etc etc. PATHETIC!
My original GOv1 mount used to stick like glue - couldn't get the thing off when you wanted to without a struggle. _________________ Henry |

Rgds | UK - Arkon mount on the way to me, but it annoys me intensely to have to pay for what TomTom should have provided. _________________ Henry |
