TOMTOM latest maps with Navigator

I bought TT6 in March for my Mitac P560. I was never offered any map upgrades at the time of installation.

A couple of months later I find that TOMTOM are offering to sell map upgrades to Navigator users - brings you from map version 6.0 to 6.75.

To buy maps for Western Europe it costs £39.99 from TOMTOM, which is about 1/2 of the purchase price just a couple of months later. i was less than pleased.

We all hope that our maps are at least the latest available for some time after we purchase the software. However it is TOMTOM's policy only to offer free map upgrades to the owners of the standalone units, not to owners of their software.

I argued with the support staff at TOMTOM saying it was pretty unfair and I was very unhappy with the situation- Garmin wouldn't do that!!!
They said that technically a map is out of date as soon as it is released but i said that was just semantics and in reality I should have been offered the latest map available at the time of purchase and for a short time after.

I got a result, after a few days on consideration and my activation code and purchase receipt as proof of ownership, they have let me download the single file for maps of UK and western Europe for free,

It was worth sticking to my guns and arguing the point, though I still feel like i shouldn't have had to.

I had a similar result a few months ago. I complained about not having the latest map and after a couple of months of waiting for them to sort it out I was given a full refund for Navigator and bought the UK+I map which they were offering at a reduced price at that time. So I have the latest Navigator 6 and 6.75 map for £29.95.
