I have taken the 30 day safety camera download on to my nuvi 250. It did come with safety cameras loaded but goodness knows how old they were, and I didn't look at the loaded files before I downloaded the trial updates. I was confused at first as the files had the word sample in the file name. I have asked the Garmin help desk what this means and they told me that these are the names of the 30 day trial files. If I start paying I imagine the file names will change to something else.
How does the database available on this site compare for accuracy with the Garmin Cyclops database? Anyone know which is best? Is it possible to have French cameras and British cameras loaded at the same time and what would be the procedure when crossing the channel wrt kilometre/miles?
Thanks in anticipation

The safety cameras from PGPSW are much better in my opinion. I drive 15-25K miles in the U.K. every year and it's very rare that I see a camera not in the database.
Have used the database here for many years now.
O'h and to the forums. |

Thanks for the welcome Pocketgps. I have always resisted a sat nav but they are getting so cheap, it was worth it just for the safety cams. (Under £100). However since I have had it and joined this forum I now feel as though I belong, which I did not feel when just using paper maps. Plus I don't have to memorize the maps before I leave home. Most journeys I admit are local and well known, but I do make journeys into indian territory from time to time and could fall foul of safety cameras so easily. Not that I speed but you can drift over without realising by just a small amount and get stung. Reading all the posts and replies to mine have convinced me to subscribe rather than going with the Garmin database. As it's only £19 against £30 for Garmin, it's a no brainer. What can you get for £19 these days, 10 lattes in Marks and Spencer, small ones at that. Anyway, thanks again.
