|
|
The documentation that came with my Ipaq navigation system 3 is very confusing. Could someone help with the following:
1. The desktop version of Copilot help file states that there should be a traffic option in GPS menu. It's not there. Is this function still not active yet in the UK?
2. Do you need to have livewire installed to have this functionality?
3. Do you need to have livewire running, or will copilot do the necessary work?
Basically, I don't understand the relationship between these things. How can I get traffic updates relevant to any journey I make?
Thanks,
Alastair |

The traffic information option has yet to be released. Livewire is a seperate product from another company that has no integration with a navigation app.
So basically, you cannot get traffic updates from CoPilot, you could subscrive to Livewire for an additional cost but it runs as a seperate application which has no idea where you are so you have to enter your route manually! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Many thanks for your help. I wish the instruction manuals were better written (I'm an Inspector of Education and am trialling the use of Co-pilot for the Inspectorate so hazard of the job noticing things like this!)
Any idea the timescale for releasing the Traffic option?
Also, I contacted support ALK support yesterday to install the latest Pocket PC update as per the instructions. They state that they will respond in 24 hours but it is way over that. Any comments on the quality of support from ALK in the UK?

CoPilot and Livewire are to different products from two different companies. There was a strategic alliance between Team Warrior and ALK over a year ago, but that has now disolved, ALK were hoping to get a traffic package into CoPilot, but to date it hasn't been available. It is still planned AFAIK, you can bolt on LiveWire for the PDA, but it doesn't interface with the application, it will just give you traffic news in a seperate application. |
