The tomtom tmc saga has been going on for such a long time I seem to have lost track. Which is the latest version ( and identity marks) and where is the best place to buy one
I have been reading this thread and it seems there are many difficulties. Is it possible to summarize the situation, and is it worth purchasing now or waiting .
I would dearly love the traffic option, but not by using plus features

Near the connector is a small white flag with the part number printed on it, this needs to end with the numbers .013 to be the latest device.
Reception is still patchy but is considerably better now than it used to be (I seldom got a signal on the Fylde coast in the early days. Reception is now every time I use the device, often it acquires a signal before I have left Blackpool - where in Lancashire are you located - Mike |

Hi Mike
thanks for that
i am in Nelson just outside Burnley I have read with interest your modifications but don't think thats within my capabilities however I am pleased to hear that reception is better, I believe that Pendle hill tends to distort reception in this area.
I have been looking at a v3 tmc but seldom do they mention partnumbers
I did have a tmc some time ago but sent it back as I could not get a signal around here. i did go up the A56 a little after you did a test run but i could not get a signal.
i will probably leave it for a week or so and see what any sales might bring it looks like busineses are lowering prices a bit and I'm not in a hurry just yet
I have just returned my unit to v7.221 from v7.481 as I believe i stand a better chance of not getting the 1 minute delay fault

The reason retailers could be lowering prices might be due to the possible release of a new RDS-TMC receiver, it was announced at the same time as the newer One devices last month see This Thread for some additional information.

Agreed, probably not worth buying one until TT release a build of Navcore for the x20s and x30s that actually displays meaningful delay info in the UK.
We have been waiting since last November since the issue was first reported to them.
By the time they do this, the new TMC device Mike mentioned will probably be released. I have heard rumours that reception is better with this unit and it is less susceptible to interference generated by the TT itself when it is being charged from the car.
