mapping software for Linux

I would like to use mapping software for use in the UK. OSUK is the best (for me) but it seems is only for MS machines has anyone got any of the mapping software working with wine. I have discovered Viking gps and gpsbabel which allows me to plot tracks in Google maps or Google earth or Viking direct and or convert kmz to klm and gpx or whatever which will probably do Ok as most of what I want to plot ( off road) is very visible in GE.
