Hi

I would like to wire my Dell Axim X5 to my car and bike wiring. Can I get a USB conector and just cut the car charger adapter off and wire is in directly or does the adapter change the voltage?

Also, is there a way to wire the unit to the cars speakers. Can I use the headphone socket and wire it to the speakers or is there a unit that I could get to connect it.

Right I have found it.

There is a Brodit active holder for the Axim. It does need the cigarette adapter to be left on but can be connected to an inline cigarette socket. These are available and can be hard wired and hidden behind the dash. However, Brodit do make a "hard wire" holder for other makes like Ipaq.

There is also a "Universal PDA mute" for £80 (quite steep) it connects to one speaker by cutting the existing speaker cable and connects to the PDA via the headphone socket. The unit detects the voice commands/sound from the PDA, mutes the car speaker and amplifies the PDA output to get a decent quality sound. All other speakers in the car keep going with the radio but that's not a problem
