I recently was offered an update via 'Home' but the card was too small, so I bought a new card, installed my back up to it and proceeded to add the update. No problems so far.
I left the unit plugged in for a bit while I browsed through 'Home' and then added a new voice.
When I had finished I pulled the usb cable out and the screen went grey, but lit up if you get me, like a back light is on.
Nothing will clear this screen, the on/off button has zero effect, removing and reinserting the card, a reset under the unit (several times, 15 seconds plus), clearing the card and putting my back up back on it and reinserting, putting the original card in, connecting to the car charger (with this at least the green 'on' light showed) reconnecting to my computer won't launch Home and when I open Home manually it asks to connect the TT even though it's connected.
Don't know what else to try, has anybody got any tips or ideas or does a trip to Halfords beckon with Visa in hand? |

Can you try running the Clear Flash tool on the device, you can find information on this by reading FAQ #14 on This Page - Mike |

No effect sadly, the flash tool wouldn't recognise that the unit was even connected, every time I clicked the continue arrow it just kept asking me to connect the tomtom. |

Do you still have the original card that was supplied with the device? - if so insert that and see what it does - Mike |

Does the PC recognise the Device as a new Drive in Windows Explorer?
Do you have a Card Reader? _________________ Richard

Well strange as this may seem, when I went back to the unit the screen was now looking like the unit was switched off rather than backlit, I guessed this was because the battery had depleted so decided to plug it in to the car charger.
When I connected it to the car charger it booted up as normal and is now working perfectly, how strange.
Could it have reset somehow when the battery died? |

Letting the Battery go flat is normally the same as a 30 sec Reset, with the SD Card removed.
Don't do it too often as the battery doesn't like it. _________________ Richard
