But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

Once you have the device configured and working correctly copy the MapSettings.cfg (found in the map folder) to your PC as this contains all the settings, if it goes wrong again simply copy the file back to the map folder, it will save you the hastle of setting it all up again - Mike

Thanks Mike, I have a copy of that, and update it regularily but not very usefull when "on the road". Is it one of these I'm going to have to live with for now or anything else to look at?

It's a long-running problem.
For me, it seems more likely to do it if I have been connecting to the PC or to "Home" a lot. But it has also done it occasionally when I've been nowhere near a PC.
I've spent quite a bit of time and effort trying to pin down EXACTLY what causes it, but have never pinned it down.
Now I keep a spare copy of MapSettings.cfg on the TomTom itself (you can put it in the root directory, it doesn't affect anything there), so at least I can connect to ANY PC and paste it back into the map folder, rather than having to get it off my own PC.
