Hi
I had an hp 1715 with navigator 6 on with the uk maps and speed cameras, the battery died and I bought a new HP IPAQ travel companion with navigator 6 on and when I transfered my sd card over all the maps and camera files are there but the icon is greyed out now. It all worked fine on the old PDA so how do I get the cameras to work on this new one please

Maps are usually locked to just one device. If you can persuade TomTom you really have only one device and the other is scrapped, they may be able to help you out. _________________ Dennis

Many thanks Dennis for the reply. That makes sense now so I suppose the smart option might be to just buy in the new ones along with an updated map as they are all a year or so old now

For Navigator 6 (and there isn't a later version), you can only get maps v675, which are all dating back to April 2007. I wonder what version map you had on the previous device? If it was v675, then you'd be better off trying to persuade TomTom to activate that map on your new device.
On reflection, have you an account with TomTom website for the old device? If you have, you might possibly be able to change it to the new device and then maybe the map could be made to work.
Cameras - DON'T get the TomTom ones, get ours, whichever way you go with the map. Ooops - that's a recommendation, not an instruction!
Have a read of this _________________ Dennis

Thanks again dennis for the further info.
The maps, postcodes, POI's etc all work fine it is only the speed cameras that don't work. That is the icon that is greyed out. The camera files are on the card (well tom tom home lists them)
(I have map version 652)
So if I download your camera files how do I get them on the card so they work please

Bearing in mind you have to be a subscribed member to get the download, I don't know if you are subscribed.
You download the OV2 database as a zip file, unzip it and then copy/paste the files into your map folder. Then you "activate" them - show POI (they are POIs) and choose to Warn when near them.
That's very brief. Think about it, decide to subscribe, then come back for more help if you can't work it out for yourself. There is a good guide to installing them (which for the life of me I can't find right now - I'm a complete dumbo with manuals!! - within about 17 minutes, somebody is going to come along and post a link to it, or my name's not "Handsome"). It is simple, believe me - I'm really old and I did it easy as falling off a log when I first started back in 2005. _________________ Dennis

One thing that was implied but could be shouted louder is:
UNLIKE the TomTom one, the Camera database from this site can legally be installed on up to three (I think) satnavs in the same household for no extra cost, and you can download as many times and in as many formats as you like in your subscription period. |

Actually we only stipulate devices in the same household, there isn't a fixed limit (within reason!). _________________ Darren Griffin |
