Is it as simple as you've switched off the 3D display?

Tap Screen / Change Preferences / Forward arrow to page 3 / "Change 2D/3D display"

Or is it that you expect them to be more 3D than they actually are?

Aah yes.... Did you mean the 3D (ish) buildings?

If so, they only appear in places where they've added that detail to the map (and there's no way to switch them on or off yourself). Big city centres are pretty well covered now, but its just a few odd buildings in other places.

What I meant by:

satellite fix - red for very-very low, yellow for 'almost got it' and green (not shown) for got it!

i'd just started the software when i took the screenshot but had moved the map to a location where i knew there were 3d buildings.

they use teleatlas data so i presume that the 'footprints' in tomtom would 'match' the buildings in igo8? so far i've found london, birmingham and edinburgh all seem to have good buildings data

When I saw the buildings in your previous post I was hoping I could say they don't look like that at all - but it's fairly accurate. Evil or Very Mad

Doesn't it get annoying when it directs you around the back of a building - the satnav view is just as hampered by buildings as the real one. Confused

actually, and i know this is off-topic now (sorry), but the buildings fade out as you get nearer to them so you can easily see the route. all this will be mentioned in the review that's currently being written!

back on topic...: how useful are the building footprints on the tomtom? i live in bradford and we obviously dont have buildings here (at least not in the tomtom map!) so cant really use that 'feature'

They are exactly the same use as the igo building pictures. No one should be studying this rubbish whilst driving.

I find them irritating and pointless, also they "crowd" the map when you zoom out in 2D view.
I wish you could switch them off.

Assuming they must be additional data in the map colour scheme, I was quite surprised they worked properly on my unit as I use a custom colour scheme (GB_New), but they worked straight away.

So I thought maybe I could "tweak" the colour scheme to remove them, but didn't have any luck. Unfortunatly the 'Colour Scheme Editor' website seems un-manned these days - it's still there but you can't seem to join their forum any more and emails go unanswered.
