I know that the latest breed of TT1 have reduced POI functionality 'out of the box'.
When you insert the speed zoned camera files can you still:
Adjust the distance warning ?
Specify to have them warn when 'not on route'
Link the .ogg files to each speed zone
What can't you do that you could with a TT1 or 2 with regard to POI's?
Basically, depending on the outcome of the Talex trials I may be looking to get a TT1 v4 but just use it as a Speed Camera Device. I do realise that I will get warnings about cameras on both sides of the road. _________________ Satnav:

You can do all of the POI Warning with the device straight out of the box, what is missing is the ability to create POI categories etc.
Distance can be set as required
You get the option for on route or not
Ogg files work fine on the Third Edition
If you set warn only if POI on route and a camera is on the opposite carriageway which is separated by a barrier then you will not get a warning, as the device will treat the other side of the road as a separate road.
To put the full POI menu on the device simply install the custom menu to the unit and you get full functionality - Mike |

Later models and/or software seem to have widened the "catchment area" so you often (but not always) DO now get spurious alerts for the opposite carriageway. |

I will almost certainly not have the 'show only when on route' setup as I intend to use the TT1v4 purely as a SCD.
I know I will get warnings on both directions but using the cameras from here far outweighs this slight drawback.
Better safe than sorry
This TT1v4 still depends on silentwol's work which I am currently testing. _________________ Satnav:

If you DON'T have "Warn only when on route" selected, you will get LOTS of warnings for cameras on nearby roads, dependant on your distance settings. So it will happen especially for mobiles as the warning distances you need are so much larger. |
