It seems I read a post one day on how and what file to modify on the nuvi 700's to increase the internal speaker volume. Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction?

I think you'll find it just introduces more distortion on the 7xx series. They seem to have already set the volume level as high as they can.

The problem with most sat navs is that they are fitted with very small speakers which limits the level of volume they can produce without distorting the sound or suffering physical damage.

Why don't you use the FM transmitting capability of your 760 to play the sound through your car stereo system?

I complained on here regards poor sound quality of my 770. it was replaced as it had a another fault, and new one is more acceptable - not great! but a bit better......

so I would try returning it
