Problems

I got a GO720T for Christmas and have joined the PGPSW forums and would like to say that there is plenty of useful information available here (albeit sometimes too much info - a bit bewildering when you first join!).

One thing that does seem amazing is the lack of testing (or lack of interest in their customers) that TT seem to have. There seems to be quite a number of problems on various devices either with the units themselves or the software. The infamous 1 minute delay on the traffic system which has supposedly been resolved with the latest software update, the software update which then seems to have caused problems in other areas regarding voices, warnings, address recognition etc. Do TT not test these updates prior to landing them on their (valued?) customers?
It just seems there are lots of these sort of issues which seem to get resolved more by helpful users of this website rather than TT.
Anyway that's the rant over with.

I am otherwise pretty happy with my Christmas present, the poor quality music player aside!

TT DO have test programmes. I fear they seem to sometimes pay more attention to marketing programmes than testing, as I'm sure they do get feedback on testing. They are performing some sort of balancing act between staying ahead of the competition and making things work. Judge for yourself how well they hold that balance!

If Tomtom got there act together regarding the software side and customer support side of the business they would just blow the competition out of the water .

I suppose customer support costs money and they are trying to do a balancing act between competitive pricing and giving a support service .

Hopefully in time Tomtom will learn from there mistakes regarding software stability but that does not seem to happen as yet
