Yes you can charge the unit from a compter using the usb cable supplied.
I have my unit connected to the car charger whenever I am in the vehicle, so it rarely goes flat, but every now and then I do let it run down and give it a full recharge. A legacy I have continued with all rechargeable batteries even though its not needed with NiMH batteries.

You can get Mains Chargers, but they must have a minimum of 2A capacity.
