|
|
Oldboy has just completed a tour de force by updating our Dining Pub file. The Dining Pub subcategory is special as it has been created from the lists on the Dining Pubs website, see http://www.diningpubs.co.uk
The new file contains 2811 entries and you will see in the Details field that some of them are "best guess" positions and others locate the "Car Access" point.
As this is a special category of pubs, ie not just ones that serve food as well as drinks, I will only add new entries if you also submit the webpage reference from the Dining Pubs list. Corrections to positions will of course be accepted but please identify the car park access in keeping with the present style.
The Dining Pubs website states "Please mention diningpubs.co.uk when you visit one of the pubs, inns or hotels in our guide and use our voting system to ensure that information on the site is as up to date as possible". So please help keep their list up-to-date after you visit a pub.
Well done Oldboy _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405 |

So what has happened to the pubs where we could dine which were not "Dining Pubs"?
Have they been moved somewhere else or deleted?
Most people (well this person at least) did not know that "Dining Pubs" were different to "Pubs serving food", thats probably why the POI got filled with other pubs in the first place. |

Whilst not wishing to discredit anyone or Dining pubs.co.uk, it does seem a little bit confusing Oldie said:

The first one I picked out that I know is purely a pub that also sells food and meals and as far as i have seen does not have a dining room, I am confused, perhaps Oldie could add a little bit more Info. |

No the Dining Pub subcategory was not filled with pubs that did not come from the Dining Pubs list as I made sure that it did not happen.
Edited: Oops I forgot to add that I placed the other entries in the Pub subcategory. _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405

All right so I should have just stated that to be included in our POI file the pub has to be referenced on the Dining Pubs website.
The Dining Pubs website gives people the chance to submit a report on a pub so in my view that makes it special. _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405 |

Not Sure Im with you on this one Oldie, also checked a former entry of mine in the old database and this is now categorised as a pub although it has a seperate dining room/Area, But in effect Your saying I cannot resubmitt or submitt any others unless I first submitt it and reference it to Dining pubs uk first, sorry but I cannot see the sense of this, I hate to say it but I for one will not bother. |

Oldboy has just been through the Dining Pubs list so there is no point you looking to see if your entries are there. _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405 |

My comment was aimed at the Pub list containing a dining pub which I presume cannot be re categorised without firstly submitting to Dining pubs.co.uk. |

Not sure what you are referring to as "user added pois"?
Do you mean where you can submit them? If so the Link is at the top of the page under Free POIs & More. _________________ Richard

This is a very useful POI set to me so thanks!
But I wonder if there is any chance of a set from a more-reliable source, such as the Good Pub Guide, as Dining Pubs includes some dreadful dumps?
Please
