I'm looking for mapping that will accurately locate house numbers within a road, to the correct side. My present TTN3 shows the numbers but does not show which side of the road it is. As I drive a bus for disabled passengers I need to ensure that I am on the right side. Will TTN6 do this? |

What device are you using? I don't have a copy of Navigator 6 to hand but checking on a TomTom GO using the latest mapping the answer is Yes with a caveat.
It knows which side of the road a house number is on in most cases but not all. In my experience its fairly accurate but the mapping does not know the location of every house number, it knows the start and end locations of a range of addresses e.g. 1 - 20, knows that Odd are on one side and even the other and from that makes an educated guess as to where 10 would be, i.e. half way between start and end of the address range. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I am using an Ipaq 4150. The actual location along the length of the road is not as important as which side it is. I can drive further down a traffic laden street quite easily. Turning the bus around is not quite so easy! How accurate do you believe the info to be? |

Difficult to quantify but I would suggest it would be accurate enough in most urban areas. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I find it gets it right most of the time. It has my parents house on the wrong side of the road though _________________ Paul

Collecting and taking the old folk to health appointments, I have found TT6 to be remarkably accurate when looking for street addesses, including house numbers, but, once again, you sometimes need a bit of the old grey matter to kick in...(not like the taxi driver who ended up in the river...because his sat nav said so...idiot.) |

In general it gets it right for me.
Not found it to be to far off for me to not to be able to sort things out.

My work is in private hire and finding house numbers in the dark is a pain. I have an old Navman that I use for that purpose only.
It counts the house numbers as I go along. If I'm on the odd # side, it counts them, and if I'm on the even # side it counts the even ones. But the faster you go, the more inaccurate it gets. If your looking for number 367, then at 30 mph you need to slow enough to get a positive visual when it shows you at # 331 or so, then count along to your house.
I don't like Navman, but as it's the only one that seems to show house numbering as you drive, so I keep using it. |
